The next meeting of ADC San Diego will be:
Tuesday, February 19 at 7 pm
270 Camino Tablero, Escondido, 92029.
The results of our January meeting were to 1) send members to key events to increase our visibility, 2) deepen our cooperation with the local ACLU, 3) plan a campaign to commit our congressional representatives to oppose anti-BDS legislation, and 4) plan a general membership meeting. At our February meeting we will build on these results. Email our President Doris Bittar for more information.
The ADC National Convention held in Anaheim on October 13 was a resounding success! The panels were informative and well attended, more than 400 people turned out to hear keynote speaker Sean Penn at the banquet, and everyone left feeling energized and ready to confront the challenges we face.
ADC San Diego played an important role in the success of the convention. We developed the convention theme, “Activate. Empower. Build.,” and our own Ramla Sahid was one of the three speakers for the panel devoted to civil rights. We also organized an exhibit by Southern California Arab-American Women Artists, "Calligraphic Realms," and Sean Penn received a gift of one of Doris Bittar's paintings as a token of appreciation for his keynote speech. In addition, Jinane Abbadi and Ed Sweed displayed the Palestine Photo Project, which attracted great interest from ADC members from all over the country.
There are videos of each of the panels—scroll down to “All Videos.” There are also photos of many of the ADC San Diego members who attended the panels. More than 40 ADC San Diego members attended the convention.
