Sunday, September 16: ADC-JVP Picnic
The American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and Jewish Voice for Peace – San Diego Chapters had a great picnic at the La Jolla Shores Beach lawn area. About 65 people stopped by at one point or another. Many brought food to share. Thanks so much to Amal Jubran and Ed Sweed for being the main organizers.
The ADC National Convention held in Anaheim on October 13 was a resounding success! The panels were informative and well attended, more than 400 people turned out to hear keynote speaker Sean Penn at the banquet, and everyone left feeling energized and ready to confront the challenges we face.
ADC San Diego played an important role in the success of the convention. We developed the convention theme, “Activate. Empower. Build.,” and our own Ramla Sahid was one of the three speakers for the panel devoted to civil rights. About 40 ADC San Diego members attended the convention.
There are videos of each of the panels—scroll down to “All Videos.” There are also photos of many of the ADC San Diego members who attended the panels. Unfortunately, ADC National did not post photos from the banquet, which is a shame because we cannot see the tables full of our members enjoying each other’s company.
Stay tuned for announcement of an ADC San Diego organizing meeting in December, as we plot our next steps following the election. In the meantime, REMEMBER TO VOTE ON OR BEFORE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6!
